I started this with a happy go lucky attitude but... after like 4 days of painting I was starting to grind my teeth together with slight annoyance. I just wanted this to be DONE! FINISHED! Well I'm happy I did finish, but I thought I'd never manage to refine all the details and auggghhh! It was good practice to learn to be a little more patient so it was useful for me.
Anyway! Sumire means violet, so naturally I wanted her dress to have violet color in it. And since the dress is inspired by kimono, I tried to capture that amazing royal purple that especially older kimono tend to have. So royal purple goes with what? Well, red white and gold of course! A classic color-combination I think.
I hope you all like this! I will make a wallpaper of this too, a close-up of her face (I kinda wanna cry right now 'cause this is like 15% of actual full-size painting, all the details I worked so hard on are lost, augh!)
The lineart is done again by the marvelously great artist , be sure to visit his gallery! And the paint-work & color-scheme are by me as per usual! Medium: Photoshop.
Sumire-chan's overall styling & demeanour has all the qualities of an austere, noble & powerful lady both internally & physically. The de-constructed styling of her HanFu'/Kimono is unique in that it both amps her character with a very bold feel through thick layers & accessories but with enough space and divided layers allowing for display of healthy figure (Especially with her soft yet firm upper arms & sharp clavicle lines). The ornamentation is also well balanced b/w the plain fabrics, and they complement each other rather than steal attention.
Simply a cornucopia of wholesome colours & forms, also this design evokes your unique Asian-based fusion style [link] and it would be interesting to see where you will further take such fantasy styles to. Love it!
Thank you so much! The design is by *MeganeRid though, I'm only in charge of the colors. But I'm glad to hear you like the piece and design as a whole!

Your colourwork and its selections here blended perfectly with the overall designs while reflecting namesake (すみれ=violet).
